This project will support the purchase and installation of equipment for a computer laboratory in Chincha Baja's San Pedro Education Center. This center is dedicated to providing quality education services to students who are still struggling with the damage caused by a major earthquake in 2007. By providing 260 students with access to 20 computers, this project will empower Chincha Baja's children and provide them with the knowledge and opportunities that will lead to their brighter futures.
This project will improve San Pedro Educational Center by allowing students to access a computer laboratory. This lab will ensure students have computer lessons and learn to use software such as Linux, Ubuntu, and Open Office. The curriculum that will be developed to be used in the laboratory will focus on the ethical use of software, open source contributions, and intellectual property rights.
Education in the Ica Region has been severely disrupted due to the destruction of the majority of the area's schools. Currently, Ica's educational system struggles with indefinite school closures, its insufficient capacity, and an unstable infrastructure. As part of Coprodeli’s reconstruction efforts in the region, the San Pedro Education Center began construction in 2008 with the aim of serving 500 students. The majority of these students would otherwise face extreme poverty and have no access to basic services.
An existing classroom will be converted to create the computer with the addition of tables, chairs, acrylic whiteboards, and PCs. These PCS will have open source operating systems and software and will serve as the platform for the newly developed computer literacy curriculum.
