LIFT-Philadelphia’s mission is to help Philadelphians achieve economic stability and well-being. They work to establish a new standard for holistic and enduring solutions in our country’s fight against poverty. LIFT recruits and trains committed volunteers to work one-on-one with community members to achieve outcomes in the areas of employment, housing, public benefits, and accessing referrals. During client meetings, community members and volunteers collaborate to plan and achieve goals. This collaboration is essential, as it not only empowers volunteers and community members, but also promotes a commitment to service and civic engagement throughout the community.
To expand their ability to serve clients in this capacity, LIFT is collaborating with partner organizations to facilitate workshops around topics like financial literacy, job search strategies, and computer basics. These workshops provide an additional layer of support and empowerment that so many individuals in Philadelphia need. These workshops are entirely free and are open to any community member interested. LIFT believes that access to knowledge through their center shouldn’t come at a cost.
Your support will help fund a series of 12 workshops throughout the year to cover the topics that are most requested by LIFT's community members (e.g. financial literacy, technological literacy, and job search strategy).
Through client surveys and post-workshop evaluation forms, LIFT-Philadelphia has received rave reviews overall about the workshops they have already provided to their clients. The organization tracks attendance at each workshop, and to-date, have had over 500 participants in more than 20 workshops. More importantly, 100 have continued onto additional workshops and client meetings.
These workshops require a great deal of material preparation, technology needs, and outreach efforts, which your support will directly fund. Each workshop covers a different topic around our primary service areas, and will be facilitated by a local expert. With the help of partner organizations and local experts, LIFT will be able to provide valuable information in each workshop.
