Some of the money from the funds raised was used towards organizing a picnic for the children. The children were taken to Tirupati Natural Park for a day visit. The park offered a variety of activities for the children, and therefore, the trip was a whole new experience for most of them. The children were first taken on rides at the park. This was both exciting as well as scary for some, since a handful of children were either going on a picnic and/or sitting on rides for the first time in their life. After that, the group had organized to take them to a water park where they were able to go on a boat ride; again, this experience worked either ways for many children. After the water park, the children were taken to see the different types of animals within the natural park. This definitely captured the children’s attention as they were fascinated at the variety of animals and had probably never seen most of them before. The last activity the children were exposed to, was the toy train that goes through the park. Obviously, the children loved the experience. To end the day, the organizers from SEWA showed the children the variety of greenery within the park along with its natural beauty; they also explained the importance of growing plants and trees for the surrounding environment and animals as well as for us, human beings. The children really appreciated the picnic and all of them had something positive to say about it – they loved it.
