In 2007, the impoverished district of Chincha Baja was devastated by a severe earthquake. Since, slow reconstruction efforts have left the district’s population without access to basic services and struggling to cope with worsened conditions. Coprodeli has begun work in Chincha Baja to develop an urban center that will improve the quality of life of its residents and provide its children with quality education at the San Pedro Education Center.
This project will support the purchase and installation of a laptop and projector for a multimedia classroom in the San Pedro Education Center. By funding this equipment, this project will ensure that the center will be able to provide higher quality education services to 300 students and up-to-date resources to 12 teachers. Become the Citizen Philanthropist for this project and partner with the San Pedro Education Center to ensure its students and staff have access to the educational experiences and opportunities that will improve their lives.
This project will improve the learning environment of the San Pedro Educational Center in Chincha by fully equipping a multimedia classroom with a laptop and projector. It will allow students to learn from a variety of sources including internet, recorded and live stream video, on screen demonstrations, and online tutorials.
The education system in Chincha Baja has been severely disrupted due to the destruction of the majority of schools during the 2007 earthquake. Indefinite closures, insufficient capacity, and unstable infrastructure have deprived many impoverished children of the opportunity to attend school.
By providing the resources for technical education and computer literacy, this project will enable 300 students to attend classes in an up-to-date learning environment. Globalization and its immediacy of information demand that students take part in the ongoing technological revolution, to improve their familiarity with technology and in doing so, their lives.
The San Pedro Education Center will enhance the education curriculum through a multimedia classroom that will allow the use of various media sources to supplement existing teaching materials. An existing open classroom will be converted to the multimedia classroom with the purchase and installation of a laptop computer that will connect to the school’s wireless network and an LCD projector. Once the classroom is set up, its use will be monitored by the project's director, the director of San Pedro Education Center, and the director of Coprodeli's education programs.

About Me: Hi I'm Coral and I graduated from Elon University in North Carolina in 2009. I majored in International Studies and Latin American Studies. I was able to study abroad 3 times but by far the largest influence in my life was the semester I spent in Costa Rica. I was able to attend the Clinton Foundation's Clinton Global Initiative university conference my junior year of college and I made a commitment to help improve access to education in Latin America and that's why connecting with Citizen Effect was the perfect way for me to work on my goals. In my free time I love photography, Latin Ballroom dancing, reading and scrapbooking. I recently moved to Tucson,AZ and am continuing my education work here working on projects helping Title I schools with their after school tutoring programs. I was also recently accepted into my graduate program to start very soon on my M.Ed. Last year I sold my photography from Latin America to support my first CP project in Ica City, Peru. I hope to continue this for the 2010 holiday season. Updates will soon be available for the photography as well. Thank you for your continued support of my CP projects, and I look forward with your help to continue impacting the lives of youth around Latin America!
