We at Citizen Effect are pleased to announce an impact update for your Medical Outreach Medications — Chincha & Cañete Project at San Pedro Medical Center in Peru.

This baby receives medical attention at the clinic in Chincha in June 2011.

Coprodeli attends to patients in extreme poverty in Chincha and Ica. Coprodeli also attends to families in extreme poverty with medical services in Pachacutec, Callao.

Project Update: Field Report from December 2010

December 2010 Update as reported by Citizen Effect Field Partner Coprodeli:

Coprodeli continues to distribute medicine to those in precarious living situations identified through interviews and outreach visits with Health and Humanitarian Aid staff and volunteers. Thanks to the help of Citizen Philanthropists Mandy and Michelle, as well as Citizen Effect, Coprodeli has been able to donate medicine to the poorest and charge everyone else lower than the usual market price so that people can simultaneously benefit from the donation and provide support to the program.

The following is an update from our partners at Coprodeli:

Medicines arrive in Chincha!

Coprodeli’s Preventive Health Program has purchased one lot of medications to send to the San Pedro Medical Center in Chincha. With these medications, the population of Chincha Province and other nearby cities are receiving needed quality medical care. Currently, we are delivering free medications to families in need who are living in poverty, and carrying out interviews with social assistants to confirm their precarious situation, and refer them to Coprodeli Medical Outreach Campaign sites to meet their needs. The remainder of medications are used in Medical Outreach Campaigns, supporting patients who need more specialized attention. Attached is a list of purchased medicines. Project Update: Field Project from June 2010

This past month the Coprodeli Medical Outreach Campaign has raised medicine for over 1,000 patients, thanks to your support! This July, the mobile medical outreach teams will provide much needed prescription treatments throughout the Chincha Province. Throughout June, the Campaigns have been well-attended and the staff are thrilled to have the much needed medical supplies for July!

The San Pedro Center for Social Services has become an important base of operations in the southern Inca Region for: Coprodeli Education, Children at High Risk and Health Programs. Now fully functioning, the San Pedro Medical Center provides basic healthcare services in the areas of general medicine, obstetrics, dentistry, pharmacy, topical attention and physical rehabilitation! Additionally, the Center serves as an educational facility for community health promotion programs.

The Medical Center’s staff allocate their time between working in the Center and participating in mobile medical outreach campaigns. Three days each week the Center runs a full staff while the remainder of the week, two days, half of the staff attends to providing healthcare support to the more distant districts.

Last week, a group of 8 volunteer dental students from the University of Tennessee participated in a dental care campaign where they covered 700km in 5 provinces and provided free care to 550 patients in the Coprodeli Centers! They also distributed 286 toothbrushes. In Subtanjalla, 80 students received fluoride treatments, fillings as needed, and a few parents from the community came to have their teeth looked at. It was a very exciting week!

Project Update: Field Report from May 2010

The following is an update from our partners at Coprodeli:

Thanks to all our generous donors, fundraising for Phase I of the Chincha Medical Outreach Campaigns was competed this month! We are excited to continue and expand our medical outreach efforts in communities throughout Chincha Province. The timing could not be better given that the winter months are fast approaching and this campaign will provide new medications to treat illnesses such as pneumonia, upper respiratory infections, and asthma complications which are common during the winter season.

Now that fundraising is complete, we will coordinate the wire transfer for the first week of June. Once funds are received in Peru by the Coprodeli Program Staff, medications will be purchased in mid-June and will be distributed through the Medical Outreach Campaigns in July. The campaign will prepare communities in Chincha Province for the hardest months of the year. Thank you again for you support in reaching the fundraising goal and providing an essential service to communities in need.
