Scentsy's Generosity Week: Next Wednesday ALL Proceeds go to Citizen Effect

Hi everyone. As mentioned in the previous post, I'm choosen to join Scentsy, a company who understands my values for ethical business.

A big reason I mentioned why I joined the organization is because of it's philanthrophy projects. Well next week is Scentsy's Generosity Week, and Wednesday is their Willingness to Sacrifice day.

So in honor of this week next Wednesday August 25th ALL proceeds from my Scentsy sales that day will go to Citizen Effect. If this effort turns out really well, I will probably be hosting a monthly charity day of sales from now till the end of the year, and potentially into 2011.

I am so proud to be working with a company that understands ethical business and is truly in the business of not only growing their company, but helping their consultants build their own lives and support the projects they care deeply about.

Please join me next Wednesday to fundraise for Citizen Effect and the children of Peru.

The link for the charity party is: https://coralz.scentsy.us/Buy?partyId=3036254

Feel free to contact me with any questions through the Citizen Effect portol, twitter @coralz, or linkedIn www.linkedin.com/coral09

Summer Update on CP Project

Hi everyone. I apologize for the delay in this post. Life has had some whirlwinds the last few months. I recently moved from Flagstaff to Tucson in July to be closer to better medical care, so it's been a little while since I've been able to focus on my CP project. Here's a major update.

In May I did indeed have my first art gallery show in Flagstaff at the new Criollo Latin Kitchen, they were wonderful and very helpful since this was my first art show ever. Unfortunately we did not sell any art the month the show was up, but I was able to begin getting some exposure for the art and the project.

What I've decided to do in terms of the photography for sale for the project is to use either eBay and donate a percentage of the proceeds to Citizen Effect through Mission Fish and/or opening an Etsy store online with the art. I currently have my work on Fine Art America, but I have not found that to be a very effective place for photography so I'm thinking about changing it around. I will keep everyone posted on where the photography will be going for the next few months. I just recently changed computers so I will upload some photos from the show soon. Below was a blog post about the show, if you'd like to see some of the photography that will still be up for sale for now you may view it here:

http://criollolatinkitchen.com/2010/04/29/new-artist-at-criollo-this-may/

I've recently become an independent consultant for Scentsy, an extremely social responsibility focused business that sells wickless hypoallergenic beautiful ceramic candle warmers. My best friend was already working for this company and I really loved their mission: simplicity , authenticity and value. A simple beautiful product perfect for homes, dorms, offices, cars, and more. The fact that the company follows the highest standard of business ethics that the Direct Sales Association has was very impressive to me. And the value they place on guaranteed satisfaction for customers, hosts, and incredible personal and business training for consultants was a huge appeal to me.

My biggest reason for joining Scentsy besides the fact that they hold such an importance on business ethics but they fact that they have a philanthropy branch as well was a huge reason why I wanted to be a part of this company. Each catalog they donate proceeds from one warmer to charity, they have a campus collection where universities get to fundraise for their schools, but also what I love is they also allow independent consultants to work with groups to develop fundraisers for them, providing scentsy as the product for the fundraiser. The independent consultant gives all of the commission from those sales to the charity or group. I absolutely love this, because it not only lets me focus in on organizations I'm already working with like Citizen Effect, but also hopefully expand and help other organizations and small groups as well.

To spread the word about Scentsy, a company that's really concentrated in just a few states right I really want to focus on the basket party model and the fundraising to spread awareness about this great company.

To learn more about this amazing company I've chosen to be a part of check out,

http://scentsy.net/en-us/about-scentsy/scentsy-story.aspx

and to learn more about what I'm hoping to do through Scentsy check out,

https://coralz.scentsy.us/bio

Currently I've hosting a digital launch party for the month of August, everything in the spring/summer catalog is currently 10% off, it's a fantastic time to check out what Scentsy is all about.

To contact me about scentsy please visit https://coralz.scentsy.us/Contact

I'd be happy to send anyone a catalog and some samples that may be interested in checking Scentsy out, just email me at the contact address above.

I'm also considering joining Watkins this fall, another organization I truly believe and love their products. They hold some of the highest environmental and social responsibility standards in the natural products industry, to learn more check out http://ow.ly/2oOJG . I will keep everyone updated as to when I join their team, and as with scentsy I plan on using various ways to help the proceeds to continue to support charities and projects I believe in.

To follow up on all these adventures, stay tuned here to my CP blog but also to my main blog which can be found at www.coralspage.blogspot.com

Enjoy! I hope everyone is having a wonderful end to their summer and as always thank you for your continued support of my CP projects.

Art Walk is FInally Here!

So after months of anticipation, hard work and all the chaos in between, ART WALK IS FINALLY HERE!

I'm so excited to be having my first gallery show ever this Friday night at the high end Latin restaurant in town, it's located at Criollo Latin Kitchen, in downtown Flagstaff, AZ.

Thank you so much to Terry for all his help this semester helping me learn the ropes of preparing a gallery show. I'm not just learned to twick my photography so it looked even better at full size, I'm put on the noise canceling headphones, the protective eye gear just to go get dirty in the shed and make my own frames for my canvas prints for the show. This experience has truly been one of hard work and patience but I am so glad that the moment has finally arrived.

My goal for the month of May is to make $750 from the gallery show. If it sells out and we sell small prints the night of the premiere this Friday, we'd be closer to $1000 for the show. So let's see if I can meet my goal!!

If everything goes well, we've moved the show at Kickstand to the summer months just because my photography really fits that season a bit better.

Thank you everyone for your support. And for those of you that are local I hope to see you there!

New Albums are Available to View!

Greetings from Citizen Effect. Good news! There are two new photo galleries available for viewing. The first gallery shows life in the Chincha Baja district after an earthquake destroyed many of the area's schools. The second gallery will show how new equipment and multimedia resources will improve the children's education. Scroll down to the media gallery, click on the photos and enjoy!

Moving Forward

Wow, as 2010 has continued to be a little chaotic it seems that the time I've been able to able to spend with the help of Terry Allen, a fellow Flagstaff photographer seems to finally be coming together.

I got to speak with Tim Allen again, one of the co-owners of Kickstand, one of the newest cafes in Flagstaff. We got approval for the prints to go up in their cafe for the spring so they will be going up at the beginning of April and will stay there through the end of June.

We're planning two special events for the spring, we're planning in conjunction with NAU's two dance clubs to host a "Dancing Across Borders" event at the end of April, for their end of year charity dance. I've got connections with both clubs since I attend a lot of their events and will be planning this in the weeks to come.

We are also planning a silent auction event with dance performances also going to be taking place in the Kickstand Cafe.

Tim and I had a great conversation yesterday and he told me about his idea for monthly art events. He's decided to do them on a Thursday night instead of the monthly art walk because we know the Flagstaff community typically doesn't like to head out of downtown for the art walks so we're working together to plan some events through the rest of spring.

Mayan Magic where we were going to be hosting our February art walk was severely damaged because of our January snowstorm so that event was canceled and they are still not in a new location. I wish the best for Mayan Magic as they work to recover from the winter storm damage.

We're securing our dates for the spring events and more updates will follow.

Thanks everyone for your support!

Great Start to a New Week!

Yesterday I was able to talk with Tim Allen, one of the owners of Kickstand, another new coffee house/ski shop in Flagstaff. We discussed displaying some of my work in their great new cafe. One of the best things about this town is how much everyone truly comes out and supports local "Flagstaffians" with their endevours, it's honestly why I feel that so many incredible things are happening in this small town because everyone comes out and rallies behind you and really supports you. I could not have asked for a better place to live as a recent college grad!

Tim and I will be discussing later this week which of my works will go up on display and when we will start doing that.

I'll keep everyone posted. Huge shout out to Tim and the support of the Kickstand Coffee House!!

After a rough start to a new year on my end things are finally coming into place again. After the lost of Tux, a new job, and a move next week it's been kind of rocky.

Here's the good news, the Journey 2 Paradise Photography Initiative supporting Citizen Effect and my Citizen Philanthropist project has a spot in the February art walk!! I'm totally exciting my good friend and now new roommate Amita, the owner of Mayan Magic here in Flagstaff has added this magnificent new global raw cacao cafe into the art walk and my work in being shown there. Mayan Magic is probably one of the coolest places I've ever been in my life, no shoes, no cell phones, no computers just incredible conversation with people you've never even met and amazing food. I keep joking around with my close friends and colleagues here in Flagstaff that Amita is slowly turning this picky eater into a foodie :) .The Flagstaff February Art Walk is on February 5th and Mayan Magic is located at

2316 N. Fourth St.

This coming week I'm also having the help of a new friend, Terry Allen, a fellow Flagstaff photographer and director of one of the art galleries in our incredible downtown. He's helping me but together my first gallery show that's going up in March at Criollo Latin Kitchen, a new "hand crafted- Latin inspired - local food" restaurant. It's very exciting to be a photographer with no formal training but having this amazing community embrace my not only art work but philanthropic work with Citizen Effect.

For someone who is not very religious this community has brought me so much support and growth in the only 6 months I've been here, I feel truly blessed. I'm so excited to be working in this amazing community and that they are not only supporting me in my "day job" as Coordinator for the new Northern Arizona College Resource Center that opens in the spring but also in my many personal passions and pursuits.

Looking forward to a more positive and exciting 2010!

10 Days Left to Donate in 2010

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a fantastic start to your holiday season! We did it! Most of you have been following our progress and I've worked to fundraise $1200 for a new school in Peru, well we did it!!! With many thanks to my Flagstaff dance community, co-workers, and a fantastic professor from IL, we were able to make our goal this holiday season.

The photography fundraisers have also done well and the Flagstaff art community is becoming more supportive everyday. We have our first gallery show in March at the new Criollo Latin Kitchen, and we have a permanent spot for the photography at the new Mayan Magic. I'm working hard to create this into a non-profit photography initiative where proceeds will continue to provide better access to education in Latin America, and we are well on our way.

These students and I really appreciate your support, and now that we've starting fundraising for our second school in Peru we'd love your support as the year ends.

While there are still greeting cards, 8x 10s, 11 x 14s, canvas prints and 2010 calendars still for sale. My biggest hope is that you find this initiative worthwhile and you spread the word to your friends and family. I completed understand that this has been a difficult year for everyone but even just spreading the word about what we are trying to create would mean the world to me.

Thank you soo much for your continued support. Please check back periodically as I update the project blog just about every week.

Flagstaff Spring Art Walks Here We Come!!

Yep that's right, this has been the week of great news over and over again! It seems that everyone is in the holiday spirit and ready to continue that trend into the new year.

Yesterday I had a great discussion with Anthony Alverez, the owner of the new Criollo Latin Kitchen in Flagstaff,AZ. There they rotate their artists and their amazing local Latin inspired food every season.

We've got our first GALLERY show ever!!! It's going up in Criollo Latin Kitchen at the beginning of March and will be up for the duration of spring.

AND!!! I was able to meet the amazing owner of the new Mayan Magic, Amita. Amita is probably one of the most interesting people I've ever met and I am so happy to be a new member to their women's group in Flagstaff that meets every Sunday. Amita and I are discussing in the next few weeks a unique way to let my art have a permanent spot in her new beautiful Raw Cacao Mayan Cafe. Details are in the works, but I'm exstatic to have a permanent place in Flagstaff for my art, and one that has values so similar to mine!

The beginning of 2010 looks like its starting off with a bang for these projects, I'm totally trilled and excited to get more people learning about this art and what it's supporting.

Thank you again soo much for your support!

Coral :)

PS. To learn more about these great Flagstaff local resturants and cafes that are supporting this work in the spring check out their websites, http://criollolatinkitchen.com/ and www.mayanmagiconline.com
read more | leave a comment

This time benefiting the San Pedro Multimedia Classroom. This time we are providing the technology neccesary to impact 1500 lives, teachers and students included.

New Project!!! We've impacted 300 lives already will you help us make it another 1500?

That's right we are on a role!! Our final donation is in the mail, and we were able to just reach out goal of $1200 for the Subtanjalla CAE Classroom in Peru with the help of our final supporter Mark W. from IL! Thank you so much to the early supporters that made it happen!!!

Since we still have two events coming up in the end of December and now we've really starting getting on a role in terms of Art Walk connections in Flagstaff it seemed appropriate to get another project.

Well I've actually decided to tackle the San Pedro Multimedia Classroom project because we are still working on the core issue of education and this project even combines my interest in technology for education so I'm super excited about this project.

We will still be selling photography year round to fund these projects but straight donations are always welcome.

Thank you soo much for your support!
