Water shortages have created critical health and development problems in Khengarpar village. In order to provide families with enough water for daily use, the village needs seven rainwater harvesting systems that will allow community members to collect and store 35,000 liters of water from the monsoon rains. The roof rainwater harvesting systems provide the community with a sustainable solution to capture and store rainwater during the monsoon season as well as the infrequent visits from the government water tankard vehicle. Rainwater will be collected through a gully system that is attached to the roof and empties into an underground water tank. Each reinforced concrete water tank will also include a closed top to keep water clean and devoid debris and pollution, in addition a handpump that will allow families to procure water from the tank with ease. The seven rainwater harvesting systems will be disbursed throughout the village to ensure that every family has easy and reliable access to clean, drinking water.
