Project Update: Field Report from December 2010

December 2010 Update as reported by Citizen Effect Field Partner Coprodeli:

The kitchen equipment funded by Mac M. and Citizen Effect is continuously and consistently used to benefit the San Antonio Youth Outreach Center that attends to children at high risk in Subtanjalla. An essential part of the Children at High Risk Program is nutrition provided to the children of each Center in the form of daily meals. The purchase of new kitchen equipment has improved the food service, and therefore, the Children at High Risk Program in general.

The children of the San Antonio Youth Outreach Center are very grateful for the support from Citizen Philanthropist Mac M. and Citizen Effect!

Project Update: Field Report from June 2010

The installation of a new gas stove, refrigerator and cooking pots is now complete at the new San Antonio school in Subtanjalla, Peru! Local parent volunteers are very grateful for the new supplies as they can now provide daily nutritious meals for school children to bolster their performance and learning capacity at the new center. Mac’s fundraising provided the San Antonio school with a propane stove, a refrigerator as well as cooking pots, pans and cook-wear which will serve to promote their nutritional program. Once the new center is completed, the 60 children expected to attend the school will have full use of the kitchen and as well as the center’s new resources.

With construction for the new San Antonio school moving forward, the expected completion date is set for October of this year. Once complete, the children will be able to move out of their temporary school and into the new school which will teach and nourish students for years to come.

This project could not have been possible without Mac’s efforts and support. These children will now benefit from nutritional meals to supplement their learning at the new San Antonio school.

Project Update: Field Report from May 2010

Installation of the kitchen equipment has begun at the new San Antonio School and Youth Outreach Center in Subtanjalla! This past month, cost analysis and quality comparison were completed and the Center staff purchased a new stove, cooking utensils and other kitchen equipment. The new appliances and equipment are being installed this week by the Center staff and parent volunteers. The 60 children who will attend the San Antonio Youth Outreach Center this year are excited to move in to the new school building and enjoy full use of the new kitchen once it is completed.

Project Update: Field Report from April 2010

Construction has officially started on the new
San Antonio School and Youth Outreach Center in Subtanjalla!

On April 26^th, Coprodeli broke ground on the new school’s foundation, and building has been underway for the past week. Now that construction is fully financed, Coprodeli estimates building will be complete in the next 3-4 months. As soon as the facilities are finalized, classes, services and programs that have been offered in temporary rooms will be relocated to the new center.

The beginning of construction has signaled an exciting development for Mac’s project — the purchase of kitchen equipment! Once the Center’s construction state date was confirmed, Coprodeli’s Director of Education Roxana Cancino Cruz spent the last two weeks of April comparing the prices of stoves, propane systems, storage cabinets, and cooking and serving utensils. After thoroughly researching the options, she made her choices and the new equipment will be available for use in early May. While construction continues on the new buildings, the purchased items will be operated in the temporary Youth Outreach Center; the Coprodeli team plans to relocate the equipment to the new site in August or September. Project Update: Field Report from March 2010

The Coprodeli Team has shared an exciting March update from Colegio San Antonio:

School has started in Subtanjalla! Students in pre-kindergarten through third grade began classes at the San Antonio Center for Social Services on March 1^st. Sixty children are currently attending the Center and Karina Ore Rodriguez, a professional from Pachacutec, has chosen to remain in Subtanjalla to continue to serve as the Center’s principal during its second school year. All of the students and staff are excited to move into the new school building later this year, especially to enjoy the full use of its kitchen facilities!

In preparation for the purchase of the new equipment funded by Mac’s Project, Coprodeli and Youth Outreach staff have performed a cost analysis and quality comparison of potential suppliers. Over the next two weeks, this team will be buying the new stove, cooking and serving utensils, pots and pans, steamer, and other kitchen items that are needed to continue the Center’s nutrition programs. The purchased equipment will be used in San Antonio’s temporary center while the new facilities are completed and will subsequently be transported to the new kitchen once it is finalized.

Project Update: Field Report from February 2010

The San Antonio Youth Outreach Center is getting ready for the first day of school! After two months of summer vacation, school starts Monday, March 1st, when the Center will reopen for its full activities schedule. During the break, the Center offered art workshops and classes for children who stayed in the area.

With the start of the 2010 school year, Coprodeli will begin construction of the new San Antonio Education Center in March, and will begin equipping the new facility in April, including a new, functioning kitchen for the Youth Outreach Center to provide nutrition to fuel the kids’ creativity.

Field Update: Jan 2010

Alycia Ebbinghaus, Coprodeli USA Director of Program Development, gives us a peek at the holiday season at the San Antonio CAE below:

Papa Noel made a visit to the San Antonio Youth Outreach Center on December 19^th to celebrate Christmas and the end of the 2009 school year before summer vacation. With a traditional Christmas chocolatada with panneton (an awesome Peruvian version of fruitcake) and chocolate milk, the big man in red brought cheer and joy to the children at San Antonio. Escorted by Marcin, the Center’s Director, Papa Noel visited with the kids, played games, and celebrated what they’d accomplished over the school year.

The new San Antonio Education and Youth Outreach Center has been fully funded, and construction on the new buildings is slated to begin in March, with equipment and supplies to be delivered and installed in June. The kids are looking forward to holding sessions in their new space and eating healthy, nutritious meals prepared in the new kitchen. On behalf of the children of the San Antonio Youth Outreach Center and Coprodeli Staff in Subtanjalla, Callao and the US, Feliz Navidad y Prospero Año 2010!

Field Update: Dec 2009

Mac's project provides kitchen equipment to ensure the at-risk students attending the San Antonio CAE have access to hot, nutritious meals. Many of these children are also sponsored through Coprodeli’s Padrinos Child Sponorship Program. Donors support select students with annual contributions of $400.00 to cover the costs of school supplies, uniforms, psychosocial care, daily meals, and annual medical exams.

Arnulfo, one of the San Antonio CAE’s 50 students, recently wrote to his sponsor (madrina) to update her on his progress at school. His descriptions demonstrate the programs and development that Mac’s project is supporting at San Antonio CAE. Read more!

Field Update: Nov 2009

The Coprodeli team in Peru reports that construction for Mac's CAE kitchen is projected to be complete by March 2010! The kitchen is expected to be fully operational in San Antonio’s new CAE (Centro de Atención Externa) facility in time for the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. Read more!
