PROJECT SUMMARY
From an early age, children in Cloetesville, South Africa are forced to struggle with the tragic consequences of their community’s significant socioeconomic issues. Currently, over a third of Cloetesville’s residents are unemployed and have resorted to living in overcrowded informal housing. These living conditions have spurred the widespread occurrence of substance abuse, domestic violence, and HIV among Cloetesville’s families. As a result, children from Cloetesville are often exposed to abuse and neglect. Citizen Effect and the Adams Morgan community in Washington DC are working together to improve the lives of six Cloestesville children by hosting Adams Morgan Gives Back. The event will support the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project and Home from Home in providing these children with a life-changing alternative -- a loving foster home where they can receive the care they need to grow and thrive. All money raised through the Adams Morgan Gives Back event will assist with the purchase, setup, and operations of a three-bedroom foster home in Cloetesville. In addition, the funds raised will fully support the foster home’s operations for two years including school fees, uniforms, and supplies for the children! Join us for Adams Morgan Gives Back!
