Project update from Coprodeli!

Here at Citizen Effect, we are happy to annouce a project update from Coprodeli, our partner on the ground in Peru.

Thanks to you, Coprodeli was able to improve the new multipurpose room for children in need of academic, emotional, medical and nutritional support.

Coprodeli's Youth Development program provides formative resources for the personal and academic development of children at risk of violence, conflict, gang activity, extreme poverty.

Project Update: Field Report from December 2010

December 2010 Update as reported by Citizen Effect Field Partner Coprodeli:

The Children at High Risk Program continues to provide educational and psychological support to at-risk children and adolescents and has incorporated technology into programming to achieve new goals. Currently, a new television is being used to enrich the educational activities within the Youth Outreach Center. Thanks to Citizen Philanthropist Coral Z. and Citizen Effect, the new furniture (a desk & chair) donated to the Youth Outreach Center classroom has improved the atmosphere of the classroom. The construction of the new wing where the new Youth Outreach Center classroom will be located has recently seen delays; however, the multimedia and furniture will move with the completion of the new classroom. This change will further enrich the program offered by the Center.

Project Update: Field Report from July 2010

July Update as reported by the Coprodeli Project Correspondent Vania Goyzueta:

The new San Antonio School and Youth Outreach Center (Centro Atención External or CAE) continues to see exciting progress in its development! Due to the consistent work done throughout this past month, the first floor should be completed by the end of August. Starting in September, construction on the second floor, which will hold the Youth Outreach Center, will begin. Now that activities are in full swing, books, shelves, and a television have been bought thanks to coordinated activities between our Peru and Spain offices.

We expect to receive the shipment container of suplies towards the end of July, due to a slight delay. However, within the next two weeks we plan on purchasing chairs for the Center and are hoping to install all of the equipment in the temporary Center by August. Once the building is complete, we will move all this equipment to our new permanent facility...Read More!

Project Update: Field Project from June 2010

Saludos de Subtanjalla, Provincia Ica, Perú! So much progress has been made in the construction of San Antonio School and Youth Outreach Center since this past April. What before was only sand has become the permanent beginnings of a school, medical clinic and youth outreach facility.

With construction moving forward, the kitchen equipment should be moved within 3-4 months into its permanent home, serving more than 150 people in both the Youth Outreach Center and the School’s student population! Altogether 60 brand new homes have been completed and great progress has been made in laying out the grid work for primary water, sewer and electrical systems.

On June 8th, a container filled with donated humanitarian aid and classroom equipment set sail for Perú with an early July arrival date. The goods will travel from Callao to Subjtanjalla for immediate installation in the temporary center. Additionally, the much anticipated Multipurpose Classroom equipment is en route from Spain.

Project Update: Field Report from May 2010

Construction on the new San Antonio School and Youth Outreach Center has been progressing well since the project broke ground on April 26. The Peru and Spain offices are coordinating the purchase of the classroom equipment since the projects team is in Spain for the month.

After completing the cost analysis and quality comparison the Coprodeli staff decided to purchase chairs, tables and books in Peru and the multimedia equipment such as the TV in Spain. Purchase of the equipment will be complete by mid-June and installation will take place in early July! Stay tuned for more photos of the classroom once it is complete.

Project Update: Field Report from April 2010

Construction has officially started on the new
San Antonio School and Youth Outreach Center in Subtanjalla!

On April 26^th, Coprodeli broke ground on the new school’s foundation, and building has been underway for the past week. Now that construction is fully financed, Coprodeli estimates building will be complete in the next 3-4 months. As soon as the facilities are finalized, classes, services and programs that have been offered in temporary rooms will be relocated to the new center.

The start of construction has signaled an exciting development for Coral’s project — the purchase of the classroom equipment! Once the Center’s construction start date was confirmed, Coprodeli’s Director of Education Roxana Cancino Cruz spent the last two weeks of April comparing the prices of desks, chairs, televisions, DVD players and tables. These items will be purchased in early May so they can begin to be used by the end of the month. While construction continues on the new facilities, the equipment will be employed in the temporary Youth Outreach Center and will likely be relocated to the new site in August or September. Project Update: Field Report from March 2010

The Coprodeli team has shared an exciting March update from Colegio San Antonio:

School has started in Subtanjalla! Students in pre-kindergarten through third grade began classes at the San Antonio Center for Social Services on March 1^st. Sixty children are currently attending the Center and Karina Ore Rodriguez, a professional from Pachacutec, has chosen to remain in Subtanjalla to continue to serve as the Center’s principal during its second school year. All of the students and staff are excited to move into the new school building later this year, especially to enjoy the full use of its new multipurpose classroom!

In preparation for the purchase of the new equipment funded by Coral’s, Coprodeli and Youth Outreach staff have performed a cost analysis and quality comparison of potential suppliers. Over the next two weeks, this team will buy the new desk, chair, television, DVD player, and shelving the Center needs to fully equip its multipurpose classroom. The purchased equipment will be used in San Antonio’s temporary center while the new facilities are completed and will subsequently be transported to the new classroom once it is finalized.

With the start of the 2010 school year, Coprodeli has set some exciting goals for the expansion of education, nutrition and child protection in Ica Province. Click to read the full March 2010 update, including a letter from one the Center's students who will benefit from Coral's Project.

Field Update: Funds have been received!

Coprodeli's operations team in Peru received the wired funds for Coral's multipurpose classroom project during the second week of February. Thanks to Coral and her friends, the Centro de Atención Externa (CAE or Youth Outreach Center) classroom at Colegio San Antonio will begin construction in March.

The equipment for the multipurpose classroom, including desks, chairs, a television, and DVD player, is scheduled to be purchased during the second or third week of March 2010, and installed in mid-April. Check back for more updates on the construction and progress of Coral's project!

New Project!!! We've impacted 300 lives already will you help us make it another 1500?

That's right we are on a role!! We were able to just reach out goal of $1200 for the Subtanjalla CAE Classroom in Peru! Thank you so much to the early supporters that made it happen!!!

Since we still have two events coming up in the end of December and now we've really starting getting on a role in terms of Art Walk connections in Flagstaff it seemed appropriate to get another project.

Well I've actually decided to tackle the San Pedro Multimedia Classroom project because we are still working on the core issue of education and this project even combines my interest in technology for education so I'm super excited about this project.

We will still be selling photography year round to fund these projects but straight donations are always welcome.

Thank you soooo much Mark W. for helping us with the last $500 that we needed for our project!!! We did it!! These kids will have a new multipurpose classroom for the new year!!!

I'm soo excited I don't even know where to begin!! We have two more events before the new year so I'll be picking another project today and all proceeds from those events will be going to our new project!!!

Checks in the Mail our Holiday Dessert Party Benefiting Citizen Effect Raises $120!

Thank you soo much to the individuals that were able to come tonight to my Holiday Dessert party in honor of Citizen Effect and the Subtanjallla CAE Classroom Project!!!

We were able to raise just over $120. Checks in the mail and the project is on its way!

We are well on our way!! We at the half way point for this project and we got some get connections out of this event that will help us get into the Spring art walks in Flagstaff!!!!

Holiday Dessert Party Benefiting Citizen Effect this Friday

This Friday we will be having a holiday dessert party to benefit the students of Ica, Peru and to support the Subtanjalla CAE Classroom Citizen Philanthropist project.

The party will be held at Coral's house in Flagstaff from 7-9pm and everyone is invited to attend, and please bring a friend.

People are bringing different dessert dishes and holiday drinks. But if you cannot bring anything please do not hesitate to still come and enjoy the evening.

A $5 donation will be collected at the door and all proceeds will go straight to this project.

Photography that's on sale for charity will also be displayed at this event.
