Thank you from Sanganguna Village

Dear Rachel and friends,

Greetings from Fatmaben and Sayraben from Sanganguna village.

We are very thankful to you for the support provided to our village for well construction. There was no sweet drinking water available in our village. We get piped water in our village which is very irregular and comes only once in a week. Now as a result of this 40 feet deep well in our village. We have found sweet drinking water and now the problem of drinking water in our village has been solved up to a certain extent. The whole village is very happy as a result of sweet drinking water in the well.

Communities from the neigbouring villages also come to our village to fetch water from our village well. This well has brought a great relief to them also because...
Walk 4 Water!

On Saturday April 24th, fifty students at Burning Tree Elementary School in Bethesda, Maryland put one foot in front of the other in order to build a well in Sanganguna, India. The event, organized by mother-daughter team,Mariane and Rachel K, was called "Walk for Water."

Here's how it worked: Children asked their family and friends to sponsor them a week before the event. Then, on the 24th, students dawned their donated pedometers and played infamous elementary school games.

There was one game that really stood out. One parent supplied 10 one- gallon jugs of water and offered to donate a dollar for each student that could carry the jug around the school. This helped students understand what it's like for the men and women in Sanganguna Village that must walk several kilometers a day to retrieve water. The children who participated in "Walk for Water" were happy to help other children halfway around the world saying that no one should have to drink dirty water.

The students raised $1,000 that day but "Walk for Water" is still going on. Burning Tree students are still wearing their pedometers to after school sports practice! Help Rachel reach her goal of $2,750 to fully fund the construction of a well in Sanganguna Village by making a donation today.
