MEET THE CP

Edelman: Team Olivia

Chicago, IL

PROJECT SUMMARY

Peru’s southern provinces of Cañete and Chincha are continuing to recover from a 2007 earthquake that devastated the regions and left the majority of their residents impoverished. This project will be part of a larger effort to provide basic primary health care to twelve of the provinces’ districts through mobile medical outreach campaigns. It will specifically fund the purchase of five lots of medicine that will be used in 200 medical campaigns over the course of a year. These lots will include various antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, topical treatments, and vaccines among other medications. They will be used to treat at least 15,665 patients coping with common conditions such as upper respiratory infections, open sores or wounds, hypertension, bacterial and fungal infections, and asthma. For many of this project's beneficiaries, the medicine they are prescribed will be part of their first experience receiving medical care.
