In the small agricultural hamlet of Khue Dong, 70 Vietnemese families live without access to proper sanitation facilities. Instead, these villagers are forced to relieve themselves in surrounding areas, including nearby water sources. These actions, however, place the entire community of Khue Dong at risk for significant health problems caused by contaminated water including cholera, parasite infestations, and diarrhea. Tragically, the oldest and youngest members of Khue Dong are most severely affected by these conditions; while the elderly struggle with constant associated health problems, Khue Dong’s children are deprived of the nutrition they need to develop physically and mentally. This project will provide 9 of the poorest rural families in Khue Dong village with indoor toilets. It will ensure that sanitary conditions improve the quality of life for both the 9 selected families and the wider community of Khue Dong. This is the third phase of several projects to provide toilets for the 70 poor families who are currently lacking this most basic need. Support Jen's project and partner with Khue Dong’s villagers to ensure that 9 households are equipped with proper sanitation facilities.
