Northfield, IL

About Me: Hey, Our names are Alison, Leyla, Nasreen, and Neha and we all went to New Trier High School. We were all part of a club that organizes an annual concert and in 2009 we decided to donate the proceeds of that concert to 1Well. We got to know Dan and learned about 1Well and the concert was a huge success. Leyla: Freshman at Pomona College Nasreen: Freshman at UMKC Neha: Senior at New Trier High School Alison: Freshman at NYU

PROJECT SUMMARY

Students from the New Trier High School Amnesty International Club are partnering with families in Sonalnagar to build 6 biogas plants, small structures that mix cattle dung and water to produce clean cooking gas and organic fertilizer. A family of 4 to 10 people with 25 kg of manure (the amount four animals create) can mix it with 25 liters of water to produce 2 hours of gas in the morning and 2 hours of gas in the evening. Gas runs from the biogas unit into the house where it connects to a small stove.
