MEET THE CP

Sarah and Yelena B.

San Francisco, CA

About Me: Sarah and Yelena are two friends living in San Francisco, CA. Yelena is a graduate student in an immunology lab UCSF, and Sarah is a research associate in the same lab. We are incredibly excited and enthusiastic about our new roles as Citizen Philanthropists. The idea of providing energy to those in need, while remaining environmentally conscious is amazing, and particularly timely given the current global energy discussions. We hope you will help us reach our goal to provide renewable energy to 420 people in Ranmalpur Village. Thanks!

PROJECT SUMMARY

This project will provide 65 families with solar lanterns, replacing carbon-intensive, expensive, and often dangerous kerosene lamps with a clean, renewable source of light. Community members are taught repair and maintenance to ensure sustainable use of the lanterns. The solar lanterns will allow Ranmalpur families to increase their work hours and safety at night and decrease carbon emissions, in addition to creating lantern assembly jobs for SEWA women. Become the Citizen Philanthropist for the Ranmalpur Solar Lanterns Project, and provide salt farming families with a sustainable source of light.
