MEET THE CP

About Me: Hello. My name is Rachel. I am doing this project called "Walk for Water". The reason why I want to do this is because it helps people. I like being nice to people and I like doing whatever can do something good for other people. I am in 2nd and am just about to be in 3rd grade. I have been to Australia and I am thinking of going to China next. I like to travel, dance, and sing. My favorite animals are dogs - second are cats. I also like other kinds of animals, but it is hard to say all of them. My school is going to get involved with the "Walk for Water" project and I am going to tell my friends about it. I am going to wear my Citizen Effect t-shirt.

PROJECT SUMMARY

The small village of Sanganguna cannot meet the basic needs of its 35 families. There is no infrastructure in the village and residents do not have access to proper electricity, schools, or health care facilities. Worst of all, Sanganguna’s villagers do not have an adequate supply of water to clean, cook, and drink, let alone use to nourish their crops and livestock. Instead, village women spend 2-3 hours every day walking the 2 kms to the closest water source, a well that's unsafe water causes serious health problems in Sanganguna. Without a reliable water source, these villagers cannot improve their own lives or ensure their children have better futures. This project will address the most pressing need in Sanganguna; it will fund the construction of a new well that will provide Sanganguna’s 35 families and 40 families who live nearby with a safe, reliable water supply. The well will extend 50-60 feet underground and be reinforced with cement to ensure it is secure and clean. A system of two pulleys and high walls will also be installed so that the well’s water can be collected safely and easily. Become the Citizen Philanthropist for this project and ensure 236 impoverished villagers have enough water to support themselves and their families!
