About Me: Hello, my name is Lin Suzanne Allen and I am delighted to announce that donors to my project will have their names entered into a raffle for a complimentary overnight stay, including breakfast,at the Sod Buster Inn, located in historic downtown Greeley, OR an afternoon tea for up to six people. Stephanie and Derek Boulton, inkeepers, will be your gracious hosts. I am a Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Northern Colorado. I serve as a member and Board Member of the Colorado & Minas Gerais chapter of PARTNERS of the AMERICAS. My project area is Social Justice Theatre, where volunteers enact case scenarios, using drama to illustrate social roles and views. I also work with CASA and The American Scientific Affiliation. At UNC I am an advisor for Law Club, Humanities and Social Sciences Student Council, and Association for Women in Communication. I am a McNair mentor. I also work with Community Read for the MLK Advisory Board. I am a member of the International Advisory Board and the Undergraduate Success Committee. My research focuses on language and images instrumental in the interpretation of court cases and symbols used to create heroic imagination in cases enshrined in public memory. These include Venice, Italy’s, METAMORPH, the Lincoln Museum, the JFK memorial site, and Memphis’ Graceland. I visited Bahia and Minas Gerais, Brazil, on a PARTNERS travel grant, summer 2010. My 2009-11 research includes travels to Beijing, Athens, Baylor University, Chicago, Anchorage, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Las Vegas, Monterey, and Colorado Springs. I serve on the National Communication Association Communication and Law officership and the Western States Communication Freedom of Expression and Legal Communication officership. I am a member of Saint Peter Roman Catholic Parish in Greeley, where I am a lector, RCIA team member, Adoration member, and Parish Council member. My favorite quotation is from Goethe: “If you can do it or dream you can begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic within it.”
Partners of the Americas is a non-profit international grassroots network that creates opportunities for individuals, institutions, and communities to discover how they can change our world through service, leadership, and by building relationships across the Americas. The Sustainable Network Training Program will support the work of our Chapters by training the next generation of leaders, or Network Innovators, who will be the direct beneficiaries of the training. Through the training, the Network Innovators will ultimately impact hundreds of individuals living in their local communities as well as their Chapter’s partner communities in Latin America.
