In 2007, Santa María Education Center began operating in Pachacutec, one of Peru's growing shantytowns, to combat the dangerous conditions facing the area's families. The following January, work began to construct a permanent center that could potentially serve 650 impoverished students. As part of this larger effort, this project will provide 5 recently constructed classrooms in the Santa María Education Center with tables, chairs, whiteboards and bookshelves. These classrooms are currently not being used due to their lack of equipment. This project will enable them to open and operate so that 175 more students can enroll in the center and receive the benefits of its instruction and resources.
